FAQ

A lithium-ion fire blanket is a high-temperature resistant blanket designed to contain and suppress fires caused by lithium-ion batteries. It works by cutting off external oxygen and helping control heat, flames, and toxic smoke.

FireFibers fire blankets are designed for anyone who needs fast, reliable fire protection. This includes electric vehicle owners, e-bike and e-scooter users, homeowners, garage and workshop owners, auto dealerships, parking garages, warehouses, service centers, property managers, contractors, industrial facilities, and first responders. Anyone storing or working around lithium-ion batteries, vehicles, or fire risks can benefit from having a FireFibers blanket on hand.

FireFibers blankets are purpose-built to handle a wide range of high-risk fire scenarios, including:

Electric vehicle (EV) fires.
E-bikes, e-scooters, and electric forklift fires.
Power tools and lithium-ion battery storage fires.
Kitchen, indoor, camping, grill, and electrical fires.

Store your blanket in:

Easily accessible locations
Near potential fire risks (garages, charging stations, workshops)
Clearly marked storage bags or wall mounts

Quick access is critical in an emergency.

Lithium-ion fires are extremely complex and can reignite days after ignition. Fire blankets are primarily used to:

Contain the fire
Lower temperature of fire Reduce oxygen supply
Limit spread and damage

They are a critical first-response tool, not always a complete extinguishing solution.

Please see our How-to guide under our Resources tab.

FireFibers products are manufactured to meet international fire safety standards such as:

EN13501
NFPA 701
UL94

Fire blankets can be reused, but this should always be evaluated on a case-by-case basis following a lithium-ion fire. The level of damage depends heavily on the intensity and duration of exposure. Fires involving electric vehicles typically generate far more sustained and extreme heat than those from smaller batteries, such as power tools.

After any use, the blanket’s structural integrity should be carefully inspected for signs of degradation, such as brittleness, thinning, or compromised fibers.

For safety and reliability, we strongly recommend disposing of the blanket after use in an EV fire.

FireFibers blankets are suitable for use by first responders, fire departments, and industrial teams, as well as everyday users.
